Much needed update :)

Hello everyone!

First and foremost I just want to apologize for not posting on my blog in FOREVER! I have a lot to catch y'all up on, but before I do I just wanted to thank you all for your support and prayers during this challenging time in my life. I have been so blessed by all of you and feel so humbled and loved.

I finished my last round of chemo on January 3, and was so ecstatic to be done and able to head back to JMU. I came back to school for three weeks and then had another PET Scan. We were almost positive that the scan would show absolutely nothing, but unfortunately, we were wrong.

I began meeting with an oncologist at VCU who is a lymphoma specialist, and he wanted to do another PET Scan before we did a biopsy, because he thought that the spot on the first scan could just be scar tissue. We did another PET Scan at the beginning of this month, and the spot on my lung began to grow increase uptake.

A week ago today, I had a lung resection where the surgeon took out a wedge of my lung that contained the tumor, and we are still waiting for the results of that biopsy. There is a small glimmer of hope that the spot on the scan could have been my body trying to fight off the necrosis leftover, but if I'm being honest with myself, it is more than likely cancer.

The next step if the biopsy comes back positive will be more intensive chemotherapy followed by a Stem Cell transplant to replace all of the bad cancer cells in my body with healthy cells. Unfortunately, this procedure would make me infertile, so I have a couple of weeks right now to harvest my eggs. It has always been my dream to be a mom, so I am so thankful for the opportunity to get to collect some of my eggs before this probable next step.

Unfortunately, the fertility preservation process is extremely expensive and insurance doesn't cover it, so my parents started a GoFundMe page. We have been blown away and humbled by all of the support y'all have given us and we thank God for each and every one of you.

I know God has a plan and is doing something big through all of this. I pray that His will be done, and that I can continue to see the good in this situation and not worry about the what-ifs.

Thank you again for all of your support and know I am so thankful for every single one of you.
